Solar PhotoVoltaic Panels and Air Source Heat Pump for New Build Home

Thermo-Floor UK’s new renewable product portfolio includes Solar PhotoVoltaic Systems. One of our first systems was installed in August 2013, on a new build home in Rugby, Warwickshire.

The customers brief was to make the home as energy efficient as possible through the use of renewable energies – To utilise one pitched roof space to hold solar panels, and also to install an Air Source Heat Pump. Thermo-Floor met the brief by fitting the roof with its maximum capacity of 9 x 250w within-roof panels. Also fitted was a state of the art Mitsubishi Ecodan Air Source Heat Pump.

This project took Thermo floor 2 days to install and commission the solar photovoltaic panels, and has resulted in the solar panels generating sufficient energy to supplement the air source heat pump and other domestic electrical demands. The Air Source Heat Pump was designed and installed to provide domestic hot water as well as provide heat for the underfloor heating system.

This project consisted of the following:

  • 9 x 250w in roof type solar photovoltaic panels
  • Mitsubishi Ecodan 14kW air source heat pump
  • 1 x 300l Mitsubishi hot water cylinder
  • 1 x 100l Gledhill direct buffer tank
